Tabi-Tabitha, Favourite Cat in the Jungle

Hello there, VivBounty here with a lovely photo of Tabi-Tabitha, our little cat who just loves her perch on the upstairs landing.  Her daddy says she can see “toutes directions” from there to be able to keep an eye on Mummy, Daddy, and large 80 lb greyhound brother, Prince.

That stuffy, Leona Leopard, used to belong to Daddy’s mother, Nanny Wales and the hooked rug of Simba, the lion was hooked by Granpa in the early 1960’s before the advent of open heart surgery. He had a heart attack while working in Korea, after which he was instructed to just rest for 6 months so he hooked this rug to pass the time. It warms our hearts that this is Tabi’s favourite place to hang out.

We say, “toutes directions”, because Grandpa and Nanny lived in the UK and used to go on holidays to France, neither one of them speaking much more than 4 words in French. It was comical how they navigated their driving holidays throughout France by the signs on the roundabouts saying, “toutes directions”. We are convinced they are loving Tabi-Tabitha from heaven, snuggling up on this Simba rug with Leona Leopard.

Until next time, hug your pets.

Walk in the Fall Rain with Prince, the Greyhound

Hello There. VivBounty here with a little post about my recent walk in the Fall rain with my newest greyhound, Prince. This is the happiest time of day for both Prince and I.

We adopted Prince 6 months ago and as my friend, Susanne says, “He fits in the family like an old sock”. 🙂 We couldn’t love him more. Prince and I usually go out for our walk in the late afternoon when we hope the temperature is ideal. Since he has never experienced Winter, coming straight from Florida in April, I make sure to put his raincoat on for these wet Fall walks.

The foliage is so beautiful along our route at this time of year, I just had to take some photos. This is quite a juggling act with the smartphone in one hand and his harness in the other.

Prince loves his raincoat and slips into it with great glee, knowing this is a sign that we are heading out for our daily walk. This is natural to him as he is a retired ex-racer, used to being dressed. His fur is very fine and with the cool Fall winds, I plan to ease him into the changing weather with a sweater, raincoat and eventually, heavier winter coat with boots for full-on Winter. But I digress. I now put the harness under the coat to allow freer movement of his front legs, although he didn’t seem to mind it over his coat and was as frisky as ever.

Unlike our previous 2 greyhounds, Leihla and Ackers, Prince does not seem interested in the fallen apples. We have many apple trees where we live providing him with lots of opportunity to toss apples around, but this does not seem to interest him. This may come in time. He is also half the age of his predecessors at only 3 and 1/2 years old.

Prince hops into the back of our vehicle with ease and as long as I have a hold of the leash, he waits until I say, “Jump down” before he does. Like Leihla and Ackers, Prince also loves a cuddle. He can stand there for ages while we hug him.

Join me next time as I share more stories of my favourite current greyhound, Prince.

In Memory of Our Sweet Greyhound, Ackers

Hello There, VivBounty here once again with tears falling to share with you the sad news of our greyhound, Ackers who had to transition over to the rainbow bridge yesterday. If he could, he would say this about his life with us.

I came to live in my forever home about 2 years ago. My mummy and my daddy fell in love with my photo on the MGAP Web site, but their car was in the garage being repaired. Thank goodness for my Uncle Robert and Aunty Angela, who were kind enough to lend us their posh Cadillac for them to come and fetch me!

Even though I was a little shy and had to take some meds at first, I was very clever and knew how to walk up steps, sit, lay down and give a paw. My step-sister Leihla had never learned how to do these things so I taught her. With her help and my mummy and daddy’s love I soon came off all meds and fitted in perfectly.

I had lots of fun playing with Tabi-Tabitha, my cat sister who came to live here just about a year ago as a kitten. She and I used to share my doggy cushion until I didn’t feel so well and she gave me my space.

One of my favourite things to do was to hang out with my daddy in the garden and just feel the breeze and look out across the river.

To keep us healthy, our mummy used to take us to Posh Pet Grooming where our friend,  Angela used to take excellent care of us. Secretly, or not so secretly, she just wanted us to visit because she loved us. She took this picture of us with our mummy. It’s our mummy’s favourite picture of us.

The highlight of my day was a nice long walk with my mummy across the bridge, along the river bank and through the village taking time to chat to friends admiring the flowers along the way.

I did not race because I had some trouble with my leg, but my mummy and daddy used to take us to the rink in the summer when it was grass where it was safe for Leihla and I to run in an enclosed area. We also got to spend 3 weeks with our friends, Janice and Jean-Guy in Bouctouche, New Brunswick. Janice sometimes got confused by our markings, but finally she could tell Leihla and I apart. I loved Janice and felt very safe with her. Muffy even let me use her ramp to walk up to the porch.

Here is a video my mummy and daddy made to tell you about what a wonderful life I had with them.

I hope you consider adopting a greyhound. We are very sweet and we make excellent pets, and most of us even love living with cats and children.

Please leave a comment on my mummy’s blog.
